Essential WordPress plug-ins

WordPress!

When we develop a website for a Client using the popular CMS WordPress, there are a few “plug-ins” we install by default.  These plug-ins are what we’d call essential for any serious WordPress user and/or site owner.  Below is a list containing the plug-in name and a description of the plug-in from the author.

  • Google XML SitemapsThis plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.com to better index your blog.
  • Yet Another Related Posts PluginReturns a list of related entries based on a unique algorithm for display on your blog and RSS feeds. A templating feature allows customization of the display.
  • Contact Form 7 – Simple to use VERY flexible contact form generator.
  • All in One SEO PackOut-of-the-box SEO for your WordPress blog.
  • Smart 404Rescue your viewers from site errors! When content cannot be found, Smart 404 will use the current URL to attempt to find matching content, and redirect to it automatically. Smart 404 also supplies template tags which provide a list of suggestions, for use on a 404.php template page if matching content can’t be immediately discovered.

This is just a small sample of the plug-ins available for WordPress, and as mentioned, are included in our basic WordPress installation services.  In all, most of our WordPress sites have upwards of 15-20 plug-ins installed to accomplish our client’s goal(s).  For a custom quote, or to inquire more about Miami Valley Marketing’s WordPress development packages, please use our contact form here.
